Here in Quebec it cost 19.95+
However, I have taken one to a laundromat, used the giant size washer for $5.00 then took it home and let it dry over my garden swing. It took a long time to dry but it came out clean and fresh.
Down is actually feathers from water fowl and it is used to water.
You could also hang it over a balcony railing, be sure to put a towel or a sheet on the rail first. You will need to turn it over a couple of times, to reduce the drying time.
Good luck
Evidently it depends on where you live, judging from the answers you have gotten. It cost me 40.00 the last time I cleaned our king size down comforter. I decided after that that I would only buy comforters that I can throw in the washer. Just call up some dry cleaners in your area and they will tell you the cost.
I know this isn’t exactly the answer to your question, but I thought I’d throw it in there. I have a queen sized down comforter and I’ve washed it in the washing machine. It came out totally clean, I put it in the dryer too.. came out totally fluffy and good as new. So if you’re looking to just clean one, you could always try this. )
Your question is about cost — that will depend on a number of factors. It does cost quite a bit to dry clean a down comforter because, quite honestly, it hardly pays for your dry cleaner to do it. I am a dry cleaner. I can clean, at most, 2 queen-sized down comforters in one load (total income: $60.00). If I run a full load of clothes my total income from that load will be about $550. Same operating costs — very different $ results.
